Jennifer
Indiana, April 2022
“I am a graduate of Indianapolis Veterans Court (VetCourt) and an advocate mentor. I struggled with my transition from the Marines, turning to and fully recovering from substance addiction. My successful recovery can be credited to the veteran resources and continued support given to me while I was facing these challenges. Through caring mentorship provided by VetCourt, I was able to establish community relationships, continue serving as a member of the local honor guard, and work on my education.
Operation: Job Ready Veterans assisted me with revising my resume and identifying career interests as well as providing supportive services that saved my life at that precise moment.
I am now thriving in my new position with the Roudebush VA Medical Center, which I began in April of 2022. I am truly grateful for the community of women veterans I am aligning with through working with OJRV and at Veterans Affairs. I also formed lasting friendships through my positive experience at VetCourt, and I am graduating a comprehensive security training course. Through my employment with Veterans Affairs, I have connected to other resources. I have set my next personal goal of achieving home ownership, and I will continue sharing my story of transition to encourage and inspire others.”
