“One of the biggest challenges I faced in looking for a job after leaving the military was finding another career outside of my MOS. When you put your military experience on a resume, sometimes people think that’s all you know. I often had to explain that I did more than drive trucks in the Army. I learned how to communicate with coworkers, have confidence in myself, not be afraid of trying new things, learn from other people, and developed leadership skills. I also held other roles during my 8 years of service.
OJRV provided career interest assessments, resume development and revision, and job search assistance. The assistance provided was beneficial, especially in making sure my resume was ready to apply for careers in the medical field. The job search support was helpful, even though I was able to find a position outside of those presented to me.
I am now working in Health Care and Social Assistance as an EKG Technician and Phlebotomist. Overall, it was a great experience, and I am thankful for the help I received. I would like to thank OJRV for their assistance in finding employment in a difficult job market and thank the Call of Duty Endowment for providing funding to organizations like OJRV that help ease the burdens on the veteran community.”
