“The biggest challenge I faced after separating from the USMC was receiving my education. I had no idea which way I would turn. I was determined to get into a field that I had a passion for, which is health care. My counselor helped me quite a bit, and I was able to make the best-informed decision for my career direction.

I am so grateful that I reached out to my counselor regarding my employment concerns. If I had not, I would have never met Kristal Watts, my Employment Transition Manager (ETM). At our first session, we talked about my career ambitions and some options for school. She answered all my questions, and the next day I was called to accept a job that I had applied for weeks earlier in the field of health care. I was even able to discuss with Kristal how I would like to take on my master’s degree. She was so knowledgeable about what I needed to do. I appreciate her guidance, and I am glad that she is also a recipient of a master’s degree, so she understands the importance for me to move forward.

As a result of this assistance, I received a job as a community health worker. My ETM, Kristal Watts, provided additional supportive services as I transitioned into a new job. I am so blessed to have learned about Operation: Job Ready Veterans. This organization has really helped me understand how veterans are working with one another for improvement.

Thanks to OJRV and the Call of Duty Endowment, I can say that after so many months of thinking that there was no help for veterans, I can honestly say that I was wrong. Even just the small things mean so much. My ETM was willing to answer any questions and was very patient with me along the way. I have already sent four of my friends to Kristal to receive help. I would recommend OJRV to anyone.”
