“A few years ago, as I transitioned out of the Army after 22 years of service, Operation: Job Ready Veterans (OJRV) became a crucial part of my reintegration into the civilian workforce. They connected me with fellow veterans who were navigating the same challenging journey, and they provided tools that helped me translate my military experience into a civilian context.

OJRV equipped me with essential resources, like strategies for networking and using platforms such as LinkedIn, to help build a personal brand that would attract employers seeking experienced professionals. With their guidance, I secured a role as chief of operations for a transportation contracting company supporting multiple Military Entrance Processing Stations and recruiting services.

That role marked the beginning of my civilian career, and while it was rewarding, I quickly learned that the civilian workforce operates differently from the military. In the military, we do whatever it takes to complete the mission. In the civilian world, however, success includes setting boundaries between work and personal life, regardless of how much you’re earning.

After seven and a half years in that position, I made a decision to recalibrate and retool. I returned to school to complete my degree in organizational leadership, which I will finish in September 2025. That choice has been one of the most meaningful I’ve ever made; it brought me clarity, peace, and a renewed vision for my future.
