My name is Anne M, a veteran of the United States Air Force. I was enlisted from 1993 -1997 and stationed at Travis Air Force base, CA. I was invited to attend The Operation Job Ready Veterans’ program in July 2018. Although I have been a civilian for over 20 years, I was repeating the same behaviors and becoming complacent which was
hindering me to advance professionally. The OJRV Program guided me to refresh ideas that have become dormant and introduced me to new methods to thrive in the current workforce.
The OJRV Program is an excellent organization of very professional and well-organized staff. They provide a 5-day seminar of daily workshops, quest speakers/volunteers, inspirational videos, continental breakfast and catered lunch. My favorite part of the program was the resume workshop and interview preparation. OJRV assisted me with writing an updated resume garnering the attention of potential employers. The interview preparation workshop allowed me to discover the confidence within myself to effectively present my experience and skills. The OJRV staff and city officials commemorate a formal graduation ceremony in recognition of completing the program.
I was offered a dream job in September! I am employed full-time with USA Today Network as a Financial Analyst. I am looking forward to the new opportunities with my career. I cannot personally thank the entire staff of OJRV enough for all their support and comradery. It was an experience i will always treasure and highly recommend to transitioning service members, veterans, and their families.
