“To follow my military service, I really wanted to find a career that was service-related, meaningful, and encouraging, with adequate compensation that was commensurate with my skill set and degrees.
COVID-19 negatively affected my job search and interviewing because the normal, interpersonal exchanges that occur from the initial handshake and live interaction cannot be replicated virtually. While platforms (like Zoom) are convenient, the key moment of making that ‘first impression’ cannot be substituted.
I appreciate the wonderful support from Operation: Job Ready Veterans and the Call of Duty Endowment. This organization prioritizes the veteran and helps to make the transition experience smooth and successful.
The resume review and networking assistance I received from OJRV helped me to successfully interview and obtain a meaningful position in an Indianapolis-area nonprofit organization. The work is perfect because it allows me to continue serving veterans while I am not actively serving in the United States Air Force. The role is very rewarding as I am able to build various skill sets for clients that make them highly employable.
I am grateful for the opportunity OJRV opened for me and thrilled to be a part of an organization that creates meaningful relationships with people by taking the time to make genuine connections that truly care about people’s well-being.”
