“My motto is ‘It’s never too late for a new beginning in your life.’ The challenges I faced have led me to where I am today. While a military career wasn’t for me, I carry the lessons I learned with me and always speak highly of the experiences I had. They are part of what has made me who I am.
I immediately went from the military to technical school and was followed up with military care provided by the school, but I didn’t learn much from that process. Everything was being handled for me, so my struggle came after graduating and I didn’t even know where to begin.
The COVID-19 pandemic made it hard to find meaningful work. OJRV hired me as an Employment Transition Manager, and a few days later I received a congratulatory card containing supportive services by means of a gift card to buy groceries until I started working. With my new position, I am achieving the dream of getting to help people.
I continue to push to achieve greatness, carrying my veteran status and the benefits it has earned me with me. My hope is that every military member, veteran, and their supporting families understand the community they are part of and the benefits they’ve earned.”
