FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Operation: Job Ready Veterans Receives Grant from the Alliant Energy Foundation

Indianapolis, IN (November 19, 2020) – Operation: Job Ready Veterans (OJRV) is pleased to announce it has recently received a grant from the Alliant Energy Foundation.

There is a significant and growing need throughout the United States for services geared toward veterans transitioning into the civilian workforce after their time of service. In March of 2020, OJRV expanded into Wisconsin based on veteran needs. By 2025, more than a quarter of a million veterans will call Wisconsin home. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is an even greater demand for the services OJRV offers; the organization continues to provide the military population it serves with the support and tools needed to gain employment and obtain as much stability as possible in this uncertain time. Of the clients OJRV serves, 95% are under the age of 65, 33% are disabled, and 85% earn low to moderate incomes when they come to OJRV in need of employment services.

“OJRV pays close attention to veteran trends and statistics routinely, and over the past few years we have noticed a rise in the needs of veterans in Wisconsin. It is reassuring to have Foundations such as Alliant Energy that are aware of the needs and are ready to partner to provide funding to veterans and their families within Wisconsin,” said OJRV Operations Director Patrick Drabick.

OJRV seeks to create self-sustainable veterans by removing barriers to employment and providing specialized one-on-one services to help them obtain sustainable careers. OJRV will be using Alliant Energy Foundation funding to provide the following job search assistance and employment readiness services to military veterans, service members, and family members with this grant funding: transition plan development; career interest and work value assessments; career coaching; resume assistance; federal resume support; cover letter guidance; job search assistance; networking strategies, including introductions to potential employers; interview preparation and coaching; strategies for successful onboarding; employment readiness training; placement and retention support; and social media utilization.

“We feel honored that Alliant Energy Foundation granted us funding. We appreciate their generous support as we have expanded our services into Wisconsin. The Foundation will absolutely help us make a lasting impact on many Wisconsin veterans,” said OJRV Executive Director Gene Anderson.
