FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Operation: Job Ready Veterans Partners with
Indiana University to Enhance Veteran Student Support

Indianapolis, IN (November 23, 2021) – Operation: Job Ready Veterans (OJRV) announces its partnership with Indiana University (IU) to bring further awareness to veteran students and their unique needs, with a focus on female veterans. Through this collaboration, OJRV and IU supportive services will positively impact veteran military transition to educational experience and will create the bridge to join the civilian workforce upon graduation.

OJRV will facilitate multiple events and programs to provide ongoing veteran transition services. The first of these events was held on Saturday, November 13th and included the Veteran’s 5K run in Switchyard Park to promote wellness and support of IU and OJRV’s partnership. In addition, OJRV sponsored catering for the Center for Veteran and Military Students lunch prior to the football game between IU and Rutgers.

In 2022, OJRV will provide snacks and coffee on behalf of the Center for Veteran and Military Students. OJRV is also partnering with Beth Barnett and OJRV Board Member Kimberly Bloodgood to provide student veterans with supportive services and resources required to transition successfully from service to academia and eventually to a meaningful career.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with IU in support of their veteran students. At OJRV, we aim to bridge the transition gap for veterans, and partnerships such as this help us fulfill our mission as an organization,” said OJRV Employment Transition Manager Deborah Ryan.

Shifting from military service to university education presents unique issues and obstacles for veteran students, particularly for female veterans. Through partnerships like the one between IU and OJRV, veteran students will receive the support they need to transition from the military in a positive, healthy way—right when and where they need it.
