“It was really hard making an adjustment into the civilian world after leaving the military. I could not find a job for months, and when I did, I was injured and could not work again for months. It was very difficult, and I wish I had never left the military. I received assistance from my Employment Transition Manager (ETM) with OJRV. She helped me develop a lot of skills that I needed as a refresher. I have taken courses that she suggested in federal resume writing, civilian resume writing, interviewing, and networking and social media. I am super grateful that my ETM has been so very patient and awesome when it comes to helping me with my employment endeavors. I love the OJRV mission.
As a result of all the assistance I have received, I am more confident, encouraged, and knowledgeable with my abilities to land even a better job in the field that I am most passionate about. I have obtained a job at a grocery store for now as a front end manager, but now that I feel fully confident, I am hoping to get a better job that will help support my family soon.
Thanks to OJRV and the Call of Duty Endowment, I appreciate the time and effort that my ETM has provided me with. I am more than grateful that she reached out to me from the very beginning. I am more motivated than ever to make this civilian life work for me and my family.”
