“My biggest challenge was how to navigate what I wanted to do next. It was very hard to realize that the only thing that I could do was become a retail clerk. I wanted to do more, and there were so many choices I had a hard time choosing a career. I had a problem with being treated as a nobody. No one understood what my military occupational specialty (MOS) equated to no matter how I explained.

I have received so much help and understanding from my Employment Transition Manager (ETM), Kristal Watts. She has provided me with help on my resume, my interview skills, and just personal support in general. She made sure that I took appropriate courses to help me find the employment I desire and have needed for a very long time. Kristal is patient and empathic and an outstanding individual that I have enjoyed working with over the past few months. No matter when I call, she has been there to listen to my concerns, answer all my questions, even straighten me out when I need it, and also provide me hope. I have enjoyed working with Kristal through this transition, and I will be happy to recommend Operation: Job Ready Veterans to veterans needing the support services that I have not only needed but enjoyed.

Not only have I received a job that I have been striving to get, but I am also super confident in my abilities to do even more. My resume is amazing, and after sending it out to the first couple of companies, I cannot believe how much of a difference it has made. I will admit that I was reluctant in the beginning to work with OJRV, but because Kristal was so instrumental in helping me, I am glad that she reached out to me.

I am currently working in the field of public service in a position with Catholic Charities as a case manager for their homeless population.
